Climb Elephant Mountain and admire Taipei 101

One of the best attractions in Taipei is to climb up Elephant Moutain to admire the city and the Taipei 101. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk up the trail but it’s totally worth it. You’ll get an amazing panorama of the city and of its most iconic tower. We would definitely recommend going there just before sunset, so you can admire the colors changing in the sky, and see the city at night. To get to Elephant Moutain, the easiest is to get a cab or Uber.

There are many night markets in Taipei, and you will most certainly find yourself spending your evenings in them. Make sure you go early and you won’t have to wait too long to get a table. Din Tai Fung has many branches in Taiwan and the original one is on Xinyi Road. The most iconic tower in Taipei’s skyline, Taipei 101 is a spot you won’t be able to miss while in Taipei. With a height of 508 meters, it was for a long time the highest skyscraper in the world. The tower is open to visitors and hosts many bars, restaurants, and an observatory. Make sure to buy tickets if you plan a visit.

National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a remarkable place to visit. It was erected for Chiang Kai-Shek, the former President of the Republic of China. The structure is quite impressive and made of White Marble, which Taiwan has plenty of. It’s a popular tourist attraction in Taipei and you should get tickets if you plan on visiting.

Visit Longshan Temple in Taipei

Taiwan is home to many impressive temples. Probably the most famous in Taipei is Longshan Temple. It was built in 1783 and is one of the largest and oldest temples in Taiwan. It’s opened from 6AM to 10PM and entrance is free.

Take a day tour to Jiufen village

What about getting out of the city to explore the city’s surroundings? One of the best thing to do in Taipei might actually be to rent a car and visit Jiufen. About an hour outisde Taipei, surrounded by moutains, it’s a very scenic and charming village. The village is very famous because it’s very similar to the village in Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away movie. If you can’t rent a car to visit Jiufen, you’ll find many organized day tours.
